I – General aspects
Revista de História (RH) publishes articles, reviews and critical editions of sources and documents, related preferably to the subject of History, but also to other similar subjects, such as Anthropology, Sociology, and Archaeology.
The contributions must be original, unpublished and written in Portuguese or, in special cases, in Spanish.
RH also publishes translated articles or reviews. In this case, the manuscripts must be submitted together with the original text and the authorization of the author for translation purposes. *
The reviews must be of books published in Brazil during the previous two years, counted from the date of submission of the review, or, if published abroad, during the previous four years, counted the same way.
Each contributor can submit only one manuscript for review at a time, that is, between the onset of the submission and the final publication. Further, there must also be a two-year interval for the same contributor to publish another text in RH. In case the text is withdrawn after the beginning of the evaluation process, the author must also wait for two years before submitting another manuscript.
Once the texts are accepted for publication, Revista de História and Humanitas Publicações become the owners of copyrights and publishing rights of them. The reproduction of texts published by RH is allowed provided it is made on a nonprofit basis and the original source is quoted.
The views presented in the contributions published by Revista de História are under the exclusive responsibility of their respective authors.
The authors who have their contribution published will receive by mail three RH copies in which their text is published.
The RH does not charge any fee for the publications of texts.
II – Formal specifications and forwarding of proposals
All contributions must be written in Microsoft Word text editor or compatible, with Times New Roman font, size 12, and 1.5 line spacing.
All contributions must have, on the first page of the digital file, the following author’s information: full name, school affiliation with full address, academic degree, funding agency to which he/she might be linked, home address, and e-mail.
The articles can be between 40,000- and 80,000-character in length (including spaces), and must be submitted together with an abstract of no more than 5 lines and 3 key words. Besides being submitted in Portuguese, the abstract, the key words and the article name must also be presented also in English.
The critical editions of sources and documents will follow the same specifications of the articles.
The reviews can have between 5,000 and 25,000 characters (including spaces).
In all types of text (articles, reviews or critical editions of sources and documents), the notes must be placed as footnotes, and the bibliography must be presented at the end of the text.
Quotations of up to three lines must be written with quotation marks and in the text body, in articles, reviews or critical editions of sources and documents. Quotations longer than three lines must be highlighted in smaller letters, without quotation marks and with a 1.25-cm indentation to the left. Interventions made in quotations (introduction of words and explanations) must be put in square brackets. Parts omitted from the quotation must be marked by ellipsis between parentheses.
Words in languages other than the primary language of the text must be written in italic letters.
Bibliography quotations in footnotes and in the final bibliography must comply with the standards of ABNT-NBR 6023, as the examples below, always including the DOI code in references to articles that have them.

III – Evaluation of merits, by peers
Since that meet formal specifications listed below, the proposed contributions (articles, reviews, and critical editions of sources and documents) they will be submitted to an initial screening, carried out by the Executive Editors.
After the first screening, the texts enter the review process, when they are subjected by two ad hoc reviewers (experts in the field or issues concerned with minimal doctor title) designated by the Executive Editors process, thus ensuring the evaluative system of double blind.
Subsequently, the opinions and text are assessed jointly by the Executive Editors meeting. When there are conflicting opinions, a third ad hoc referee will be sought. This assessment will result in approval or disapproval of the texts, as well as the request to the author to do revisions that respond in part or in full to the criticisms and suggestions of the referees. If this request for reformulation occurs, the author will have 30 days to submit a new version of the text, which will be re-evaluated, both by the Executive Editors and by referees who suggested changes.
IV- Conflicts of interest and ethical research
If the research or the publication of the article may raise questions about potential conflicts of interest, authors should state in an endnote that no links to funding bodies or to commercial or political institutions have been omitted. The author should also mention the institution they were affiliated with at the time of the research, or with which they collaborated in the execution of the study, in order to show that no conflict of interest was implicated in the result. It is also necessary to state that interviews and experiments involving human subjects complied with established ethical procedures for scientific research.
V- Content and Rights
This Journal provides immediate open acess to its content on the principle that freely available scientific knowledge to the public supports a greater global democratization of knowledge.
